Located in the picturesque coastal town of Kirkcudbright in South-West Scotland, the Boathouse was built in the 1960’s and has featured in dozens of paintings and photographs of Kirkcudbright harbour. With its riverside location the Boathouse is a holiday cottage with unbeatable views of the river and marina.
Renovated in 2011 with holidays in mind, the Boathouse provides spacious, comfortable accommodation for an unforgettable self-catering break.
Tucked away at the end of a lane off the historic High Street just round the corner from the harbour and the castle, The Boathouse offers you quiet and privacy but at the same time is a short walk away from Kirkcudbright’s shops, galleries, cafes, pubs and many other amenities.

About The Boathouse
With its two sitting rooms and three bedrooms all with river views along with three bathrooms, the Boathouse offers a unique and relaxing holiday to both couples and large families.
Living and Dining
There is an open plan fully equipped kitchen / dining area / living room with French doors leading onto the jetty – the perfect place to sit and read or watch the yachts arriving at the marina.

Flexible twin / double bedroom with porthole window looking out onto the river
Studio second sitting room with bed settee, ensuite shower room and its own entrance down steps to patio
For a group of 6, the studio can be used as an extra living space.
For a group of 7/8, the studio can be used as a bedroom with its own bathroom and entrance allowing a degree of privacy if required.
Please note: the sofa bed is not as big as a double bed but can sleep an average size couple.

At the front of the house there is a private walled patio enclosed by a stone wall, with outdoor furniture and barbecue.
At the rear of the house, by the river, is the pier with balustrade and additional outdoor furniture.
Guests with children, please be aware that the property is on the river front and appropriate precautions must be taken accordingly.
Location and parking
There is a private pedestrian lane of around 30 yards leading down from the street to the house.
Parking is available on the High Street (undesignated).
Pets
One well behaved pet is welcome for an additional charge of £20 but must be kept off furniture and out of bedrooms.
Visit Kirkcudbright
Kirkcudbright is a beautiful, historic town in Dumfries & Galloway in the south west of Scotland. Dumfries & Galloway is characterised by a landscape of rolling hills and a rocky coastline.
Located at the mouth of the River Dee, the town has a picturesque marina and also a working harbour used by the local fishing fleet. Within a short drive are a number of pretty towns and the Solway Coast with its sandy beaches is also easily accessible.
Now known as Scotland’s Artists’ Town, Kirkcudbright has long been a retreat for artists attracted by its fabulous scenery, pastel coloured buildings and unique quality of light At the last count Kirkcudbright had eight working galleries.
Amenities
Within a five minute walk from the Boathouse you will find shops, cafes, supermarkets, pubs, galleries, restaurants and a museum.
If you’re feeling energetic there’s a swimming pool, tennis courts, squash courts and a fitness trail all nearby. The 18 hole golf course is a 5 minute drive away or a twenty minute walk. Above the town 10 minutes from the Boathouse, you will find the Barrhill Woods with its squirrel hide, walking trails and wonderful views to the sea.

It is a short drive to many other activities: Farm Parks, a Gem Museum, a Chocolate Factory, pony trekking, canoeing, castles, gardens, forest trails. You certainly won’t get bored!
2021 saw the opening of a new Dark Skies Centre.
Events
During the summer months ‘Scottish Nights’ are organised weekly for the enjoyment of both tourists and locals. At the end of August there is the annual Tattoo which draws in large crowds from all over the world.
There are plenty of events for both children and adults throughout the year ranging from an annual Jazz Festival to historical re-enactments.
